Terms of Service

1. Introduction

The node-i3x Portal (i3x-portal.sterfive.io) is a free online evaluation tool operated by Sterfive SAS, a Société par Actions Simplifiée registered in France (RCS Orléans 833 264 583).

By accessing or using this service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you must not use the service.

2. Description of Service

The portal allows authenticated users to connect an OPC UA server and obtain a live i3X REST API bridge. The service spawns temporary, isolated node-i3x server instances that wrap OPC UA endpoints behind a standards-compliant i3X REST API.

This is a free demonstration and evaluation tool. It is not intended for production use.

3. Restrictions on Use

• You must not use the service for production workloads or to proxy mission-critical OPC UA servers.
• You must not attempt to circumvent usage limits, rate limits, or session restrictions.
• You must not use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations.
• You must not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the service beyond what is publicly available.

4. Service Limits & Availability

To ensure fair access for all users, the following limits apply. These values may be adjusted at any time without prior notice.

• Each i3X bridge instance is temporary and will automatically shut down after the maximum lifetime, regardless of activity.
• The server may reject new instance requests when the concurrent instance limit is reached.
• The service may be interrupted, suspended, modified, or discontinued at any time without prior notice.
• Sterfive provides no guarantee of uptime, availability, or continuity of access.

6. No Service Level Agreement

This free service has no Service Level Agreement (SLA). There are no guaranteed response times, no uptime commitments, and no support obligations. Sterfive may, at its sole discretion, provide community support on a best-effort basis.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, STERFIVE SAS, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Loss of data, revenue, or profits
• Business interruption
• Cost of procurement of substitute goods or services
• Any damages arising from the use or inability to use the service
• Any unauthorized access to or alteration of your transmissions or data

This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory on which the claim is based, whether contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or otherwise, even if Sterfive has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

8. Intellectual Property

• i3X™ is an initiative of CESMII — The Smart Manufacturing Institute. This product implements the i3X specification but is not endorsed by or affiliated with CESMII.
• OPC UA® is a registered trademark of the OPC Foundation.
• The node-i3x software and this portal are developed and operated by Sterfive SAS.

9. Data Handling

OPC UA credentials you provide are processed in-memory only and are never persisted to disk or any database. When your instance terminates, all associated data is permanently discarded.

10. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of France, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.

Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Orléans, France.

11. Changes to These Terms

Sterfive reserves the right to modify, amend, or replace these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to this page. Your continued use of the service after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
